村野藤吾について
Togo Murano, Architect (1819-1984)

Born in Karatsu and raised in Yahata in north Kyushu, Japan. Entered the Department of Electrical Engineering at first, but changed his major to Architecture later in Waseda University. Began working at Watanabe Setsu’s office as a craftman in Osaka in 1918. Published a thesis, “Staying Above Style” in Kenchiku to Shakai (Architecture and Society) in 1919. Started his own office in 1928. Morigo Building (Tokyo, 1931) was the one of project in his early career. Bruno Taut gave his comment on this building when he visited Japan. Other project, the World Peace Memorial Cathedral (Hiroshima, 1953) has been chosen as Japanese Important Cultural Properties. He died 1984 at the age of 93. He had worked for more than 300 projects in his life.
